The island of Lombok
Lombok, an island in West Nusa Tenggara, offers an abundance of attractions, including the majestic Mt Rinjani, magnificent marine life, and divine beaches. It is no surprise that Lombok has become one of the most popular destinations in West Nusa Tenggara.
Lombok Island is physically separated from Bali Island in the west by the Lombok Strait and from Sumbawa Island in the east by the Alas Strait.
The Sasak people are the predominant ethnic group inhabiting this island, which is divided into five regions: North Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, West Lombok, and Mataram City, the capital of West Nusa Tenggara.
The magnificent hike to Mount Rinjani can be initiated in North Lombok, and the stunning beaches of Gili can be enjoyed until sunset.
Mount Rinjani is one of the highest volcanoes in Indonesia, with a summit elevation of 3,726 meters above sea level. The Segara Anak Crater Lake, situated on the summit of the volcano, is a breathtaking sight that should not be missed.

Sade Cultural Tourism Village is situated in the southern region of Lombok Island, specifically in the Pujut District of Central Lombok. It is a peaceful location. This village has maintained and cared for its traditionality for 15 generations, while simultaneously standing firm and gracefully against the force of modernization.
Sade is a term that refers to consciousness or medication in the language of the Sasak tribe in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The Islamic teachings have smoothly integrated with the culture of the Sasak tribe in Sade Village. The mosque or Baruga Sekenam, which is situated to the left of the entrance to the traditional home area, is the location where all social affairs, including marriage, are resolved. Sade Village employs the one-family wedding custom to maintain the authenticity of its residents. This custom prohibits Sade individuals from marrying individuals outside of their tribe.
Sade Village’s culture is also distinguished by its custom of eloping (kawin lari). In order to propose to a woman as his bride, a man must abduct the girl and conceal her from their family. The duration of the kidnapping and concealment was unknown. It could be days or even months. A messenger from the man’s side will visit the woman’s family to inform her of her location and discuss the proposal and marriage arrangements after a consensus is reached, until a time that is deemed appropriate.
Upon arrival at Sade Village, visitors will be greeted by a local guide who will provide them with all the necessary information to appreciate the cultural beauty of the village and explore the area.
In Sade Village, there are approximately 150 traditional dwellings. The roofs of these residences are distinctively shaped like mountains and are constructed from reed vegetation. Woven bamboo is used to cover the exterior surfaces of the walls and floors, which are constructed from a mixture of clay and rice fiber. The structures of these houses are referred to as Bale Tani Gunung Ratu, which indicates that they are shaped like a mountain with a flat base.
The Sade Village area is home to all residential houses, not exhibition structures or cultural museums. This is a critical point to consider. Approximately 750 individuals who are still members of the same family or lineage reside in this area.
